Nearly there!!

Hi everyone,

Firstly, THANK YOU SO much for your patience... I know it's been a while, but finally I've set a deadline so it's all happening!

At the moment I'm just waiting on a couple of interview type submissions which will be in within 2 weeks time, all going well. Then it's all go!

Very excited at this stage, and looking forward to seeing the final product... which I obviously could not have done without everyone, so thank you!

For the animals :)

It's Cover Time...

Okay everyone,

I'm on the hunt for a cover image... or ideas. I have a few things in mind, but nothing concrete, and it's frustrating me since I need one fairly soon.

If anyone has photos or images (that can be sourced / credited to the artist) that they'd like to suggest, please comment or email me at bussi9@gmail.com. I'm looking for something reasonably happy and heart warming. An animal of some kind, an animal and person... just something depicting the beauty of a rescued animal. Can even be a very simple image (i.e. not photo).

Just so I don't confuse anyone or send across the wrong message, I'm only trying to describe the sort of image I'm looking for; I can definitely say without any doubt that any picture of a happy animal is heart warming. Most of the images I've collected for the pages of this book (including those contributors have sent) are simply beautiful :)

ANYWAY, I shall continue my hunt and look forward to any suggestions. It's coming along well (has expanded from the initial idea, to provide some information as well), and I thank you all for being so patient and enthusiastic.

The Heart of Matters

Ok, I've decided (or maybe realised) that this blog should not be solely used for updates on the book, while it could also be used to promote and otherwise assist with this cause that I (and many of you who might read this) am passionate about.

So, without further ado, here are just a couple (out of many, MANY that I continue to stumble across nearly every day) of facebook pages that do wonderful work and are extremely deserving of more support.

Flicks Cat Rescue and Adoption

Miracle Earl (and) Fundraiser

Gremlin

Please take a look at these pages, share them and post any others you know of (and think others should too!).

One last page (it's not the official page, but I couldn't find another one so I started this one) for the Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare, please take a look and sign the petition if you haven't already (and if you agree with it).

Thanks everyone, hope you've had a great weekend. Monday tomorrow (eek!) so hopefully there'll be some more exciting updates.

Technology fails

I'm excited to have finally heard from my submissions co-ordinator (or someone on behalf of the co-ordinator, since he's on leave until next week).

Unfortunately, technology doesn't seem too keen on me at the moment, and communication between my consultant and me is pretty one-sided so far (i.e. their system doesn't like my email!).

However, the ball is finally rolling... or at least it will be next week... hopefully.

Once again I would like to thank all contributors - none of this would be happening without you!

Enjoy your weekend.

Finally an update!

It's been a very long time since I've updated this, but, given I've just about finished the first 'draft' (for lack of better word), and the publishing process is now getting underway, things should start picking up and happening faster! The finish line is still a few months away, but it's nice to know the goal is in sight!

The title of this blog, Healing Hearts, is so far the working title of the book, and looks likely to stay in place.

Thankfully I am able to include images in the book (although limited in number), and I am in contact with a few organisations that are being wonderful in providing extra information that I need.

That's it for now, but thank you again to everyone, and I'll hopefully have another update soon!

Introduction

I've decided to start this online 'diary' recording the progress I make with my book on animal adoption ... much to organise and remember my own experiences, as well as to allow anyone interested to keep up to date with what's going on.

Currently, my main priority continues to be collecting stories from people. I've had some wonderful submissions and have been truly heartened by the love and compassion many people display. However, I still need more so if you know anyone with stories to share, please pass on my email address, bussi9 at gmail dot com.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to email or write here.

Thanks!
